We rented a car to get to Bled. What we though was going to be a 2 1/2 hour drive turned out to be only an hour. We stayed at the Tourist Farm Mulej. It is a working farm that subsidizes their income with a B&B. Each morning they serve breakfast with products from their farm; fresh milk, home made bread, home made jam, smoked meats, it was delicious!
When we got into Bled we dropped our bags off and headed to the Vintgar Gorge for an easy beautiful hike through the gorge. Then we went to Lake Bohinj for a picnic lunch where we also met Greg. "So where you kids from?" was the start of an entertaining, mostly one sided conversation with Greg, a California man who was half way through his 110 day trip throughout Europe. He entertained us with his travel stories for about 40 minutes. He was quite the character! He somehow manages to ride public transportation for free, he crashed the VIP room twice and Euro Disney and he also crashed a Slovenian wedding.
For dinner our first night we headed into town to try the local food. Yummy spicy meats and potatoes.
Our second day we walked around Lake Bled and then we hung out on the grass and read our books for a few hours. We also tried Kremna rezina, a local dessert consisting of cream, custard and flaky pastry dough. For dinner we ate at the farm. So. Good. Carrot soup, zucchini with hamburger and a creamy sauce, potatoes and pudding for dessert. After dinner we walked around the farm a bit and then over to the next village.

While Greg was talking with us he was also feeding the ducks and the fish ate some of the bread too. With all the fish clumped together like that a seagull swooped in a swallowed a fish whole!
View of the farm from our balcony.
Walking around the lake. The fish in the lake were huge!
Lots of people get married here. There are 90 steps leading up to the church. The groom has to carry the bride up and if he can make it to the top they will have a happy, long marriage.
Walking around the farm and to the other village.
Bee farms. Honey is very popular here.
