Nuestro Piso

After much debate on whether or not to move via metro or taxi we decided to take a taxi. We are glad we did because it would have been quite the adventure to move two large suitcases, two carry-ons, computer bags and a couple of shoulder bags on the metro. We are pretty much moved in now. We still need to buy some kitchen items: dishes, pots and pans, silverware and we  need some sheets, pillows and towels. We will take care of the necessities tonight and then go to Ikea this weekend. I am excited because I have never been to Ikea! The apartment is in a great location! Lots of cafes and restaurants, a couple of parks and a Starbucks with WiFi a minute's walk from the apartment. So far we love it here!

Here are some pictures of our place: 40 meters squared which is about 430 feet squared. And my friends, this is a BIG piso compared to a lot of others we have seen. :)

One more interesting tidbit before the pictures. When renting, you can rent una habitacion, which is a single room in an apartment that has more than one room. You can rent un estudio, which is a studio, just like the States. You can rent a piso, which is usually a small one bedroom place. Or you can rent un apartamento which is a big place. It usually has 4+ rooms. We saw a few that were 182 meters squared which is about 1,960 feet squared. I haven't seen a single house! Even out in the suburbs!

Ok, here are the pictures!

The entry way: The first door leads to the bathroom, the middle door to the kitchen and the third door to a dining room which leads into the bedroom.

The dining room which leads into the bedroom.

Our bedroom:

The bathroom. Ben was happy with it because the shower head is well above his head! He won't have to bend over or dodge a sink in the shower. :)

Our kitchen: Note, the washing machine is right below the microwave.

Our awesome closet!! I want one like this back home!

The dryer. Spaniards don't use dryers. You can buy them but they are quite the luxury. Since it hardly ever rains everyone just hang their clothes out to dry.
